How I Jumped 30,000 Squidoo lenses in 3 days - Now #966!

It started on Saturday. Myself and a few other budding marketers entered a challenge to see
how well we could do using one of web 2.0's most lucrative sites, squidoo.com.

If you haven't heard about squidoo.com, let me tell you about it briefly. It's f'ree to sign up for an account and you can build your own page/website on anything you like.

It's a bit of a mix between blogger and myspace but 10 times more fun. Once I start creating, I find it hard to stop. It's really addictive!

I heard about it late last year and that it was a great place to get f'ree traffic. I experimented
and made a few "lenses" (a squidoo page is called a lens) and experienced some traffic but nothing to write home about....until I entered this competition!

There are approximately 67,000 lenses in total on squidoo right now and mine jumped from around 38,000 the first day I made it (Saturday), to 966 today.

"I made the top 1000 lenses in just 3 days and climbing!"

As you can imagine, I was more than impressed with my efforts seeing that my highest ranking lens up until now never reached the top 10,000.

I did however put in extra effort with this one and I'm quite happy with it. I loaded it with
awesome info on my favourite topic.......

......"Affiliate Marketing!"

I know you're probably thinking "Give me the link already!", so here it is-

-> http://www.squidoo.com/affiliatebucks

There is a place for you to leave a comment and add your link. I also suggest you get your own
f'ree squidoo account like me and start building your lens. A great way to get f'ree exposure!

-> http://www.squidoo.com/affiliatebucks

Please don't forget to vote for my lens at the top of the page by clicking on the stars.

When you've signed up and created a your own lens, send me a quick link to it and I'll be more than happy to check it out and vote for it!

Dominating Your Niche Market

How do top marketers rake in and continue to rake in the dollars while the rest of us struggle to
make even 1 lousy sale?

The Secret......

They are dominating their 'Niche' market!

Niche marketing is finding small profitable segments of a much larger market and targeting them.

Example: When you think of 'Niche Marketing', think of a tree. Think of the trunk as your main 'topic' and the branches are the niches.

Let's take fishing as our 'topic'. Fishing is NOT a niche. It's too broad! A good niche inside fishing
would be:

++ Deep Sea Fishing

++ Fly Fishing

++ Fishing Lures

++ Fishing Rods

Choosing your niche is probably the most difficult part of it. You want to make sure there is a market for it and it's profitable!

The tighter the better? Yes and No.

An extremely tight niche (e.g. black bass fishing line) is going to be hard to crack but on the other hand, the response of those prospects will be very high. And with the way the numbers of new internet users are increasing by the millions monthly, these tight niches will be very profitable avenues for you. Why? Because there will be room for eveyone and their niche.

I once heard that if you want to start an online business, you should start out in a field that you
love and are knowledgeable about because you'll end up pursuing that line eventually.

What are your passions?

No-one knows what you like and what you know better than YOU! Start thinking about it if you haven't already. Get the tree image in your head and name those niche 'branches' and even 'twigs' and start from there.

It does involve a lot of effort but the good news is this! Most established marketers in larger markets are usually not prepared to spend the time and effort required to seek out smaller segments, leaving them RIPE for the picking.

All the best for success in your niche,

Stuart Stirling

List Lotto- Winners All Around!

ListLotto -

If you know how important List Building is for your Business Online and you want a way to help you build your Internet Marketing list with ease, then ListLotto is the ticket...

Lets first look at what ListLotto is:

Its a Downline List Building web site that lets you email the list you build every 5 days.
There are many other sites like this on the market, such as ListDotCom and YourLuckyList and many others.

Each of these sites allow you to build a list, then mail out to that list every few days or so. The incentive is you can grow your list by sharing information about the main site, which in turn attracts new visitors and then means you build a list of your own.

Provided you build the relationship correctly with these people, you can then start to pull them across to your main sites and market to them from there.

In general, these downline list builders will also let you upgrade to a paid membership which gives you more access to mail more people on the site itself.

This is great in the early days of these sites launch as everyone reads the mail from them and you can get a great response.

Where ListLotto has set itself apart from the current trend of list building web sites, is it gives you the potential to email to the entire house list, no matter how big by winning the weekly free draw, hence the name List Lotto!

The cool part is, for every person you refer, you can gain a further entry into the weekly draw, thus making it Viral... Invite more people, the more chances you will have to win the weekly draw.

Now with the appeal this has, it means that thousands of people will be marketing this site with all the great tools included, even Blog Posts :)

The more people promoting, means the BIGGER the list will be on the site... Imagine for one moment the potenial to mail to hundreds, thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of people? Would'nt that be simply AWESOME...

Well now you can...

ListLotto is the ultimate list builder online and its free to get started... You could win the weekly draw and be sending your information to thousands of interested people.. now that sounds like a list I would want to send to..

To your success

Spam-The unwanted email or the processed meat? Both stink

You may have signed up to an e-mailing service provider or email blaster or safelist mailer lately. If so, are the overflowing emails more than you can handle?

If you sign up to an email blaster, you may think "Wow, I can send to thousands of people," but the reality is that if you can mail thousands of people, then everyone is mailing thousands of people. These people are the same people! Which means, you are just 1, blending in with the thousands of others. Do you think your emails get read? Not likely. I say "Don't waste your time with email safelists, or mega blasters."

The above is pretty much what we call SPAM, or 1 form of it. What defines spam? If you get an email and it's not wanted and think you should not be getting it, then by you, it's spam. If you think it's spam, it's spam.

So don't be a spammer. Spammers don't win. You don't want to be known as a spammer. It's the best way to get your Internet connection closed down and any websites related to you removed for ever. You've been warned. If you have signed up to one of these and fell it's doing more worse than good, unsubscribe. Do your and others' inboxes a favor!

Dealing with Copious Amounts of Email Daily-The Good and Bad

Email-Are you riding the waves or are you drowning in it?

Email is vital to marketing in the internet. It is probably the best form of direct internet marketing ever to be created. You need to send it, and you need people to read it. Unfortunately, this is the case for everyone else out there trying to make a buck. There is a lot of competetion to get emails read. You probably are faced with this competition everyday in your own inbox!

It is competetion but guess what? You need that email! Did you know you can use that email that comes in by the streams to your advantage? Keep reading and I'll show you how.

The first thing is to separate the useful emails from the useless emails. Only you can decide this. Usually, emails from big names who you know are making money in the business are worth reading. People that are treating you well ( i.e. giving you useful info or free downloads etc) usually write worthwhile reading. And anyone else you 'trust' so to speak are ones you should look out for.

Anyone else who you feel is just spamming you, providing nothing worth your time and simply takes up space in your inbox-----don't be affraid to CLICK the unsubscribe button! You won't hurt their feelings. You may be actually helping them! They'l change their emails into useful ones

Now here's what to do with that 'GOOD' email you have. READ them! Why? Becasue this is exactly what you need to be doing to be successful just like them. Copy them. They are making money. If you want to do the same, do the same!

Absorb, copy and apply as much as you can from the pro's email tactics. This is the closest thing you have to inside, confidential tactics. This is the way you ought to run your online business.

Things to notice are:
  • the way they set out the emails to
  • the product they are promoting.
  • the prices,
  • the inncentives or added bonuses,
  • the frequency of emails in a week,
  • the frequency of emails promoting each product,
  • the words used,
  • the length of emails,
  • and the list goes on.

Remember the old saying,
"Don't re-invent the wheel."

That's al the news for today.

Search Engine Keywords Selection

Search engines are the vehicles that drive potential
customers to your websites. But in order for visitors to
reach their destination - your website - you need to
provide them with specific and effective signs that will
direct them right to your site. You do this by creating
carefully chosen keywords.

Think of the right keywords as the Open Sesame! of the
Internet. Find the exactly right words or phrases, and
presto! hoards of traffic will be pulling up to your front
door. But if your keywords are too general or too
over-used, the possibility of visitors actually making it
all the way to your site - or of seeing any real profits
from the visitors that do arrive - decreases dramatically.

Your keywords serve as the foundation of your marketing
strategy. If they are not chosen with great precision, no
matter how aggressive your marketing campaign may be, the
right people may never get the chance to find out about it.
So your first step in plotting your strategy is to gather
and evaluate keywords and phrases.

You probably think you already know EXACTLY the right words
for your search phrases. Unfortunately, if you haven't
followed certain specific steps, you are probably WRONG.
It's hard to be objective when you are right in the center
of your business network, which is the reason that you may
not be able to choose the most efficient keywords from the
inside. You need to be able to think like your customers.
And since you are a business owner and not the consumer,
your best bet is to go directly to the source.

Instead of plunging in and scribbling down a list of
potential search words and phrases yourself, ask for words
from as many potential customers as you can. You will most
likely find out that your understanding of your business
and your customers' understanding is significantly
different.

The consumer is an invaluable resource. You will find the
words you accumulate from them are words and phrases you
probably never would have considered from deep inside the
trenches of your business.

Only after you have gathered as many words and phrases from
outside resources should you add your own keyword to the
list. Once you have this list in hand, you are ready for
the next step: evaluation.

The aim of evaluation is to narrow down your list to a
small number of words and phrases that will direct the
highest number of quality visitors to your website. By
"quality visitors" I mean those consumers who are most
likely to make a purchase rather than just cruise around
your site and take off for greener pastures. In evaluating
the effectiveness of keywords, bear in mind three elements:
popularity, specificity, and motivation.

Popularity is the easiest to evaluate because it is an
objective quality. The more popular your keyword is, the
more likely the chances are that it will be typed into a
search engine which will then bring up your URL.

You can now purchase software that will rate the popularity
of keywords and phrases by giving words a number rating
based on real search engine activity. Software such as
WordTracker will even suggest variations of your words and
phrases. The higher the number this software assigns to a
given keyword, the more traffic you can logically expect to
be directed to your site. The only fallacy with this
concept is the more popular the keyword is, the greater the
search engine position you will need to obtain. If you are
down at the bottom of the search results, the consumer will
probably never scroll down to find you.

Popularity isn't enough to declare a keyword a good choice.
You must move on to the next criteria, which is
specificity. The more specific your keyword is, the greater
the likelihood that the consumer who is ready to purchase
your goods or services will find you.

Let's look at a hypothetical example. Imagine that you have
obtained popularity rankings for the keyword "automobile
companies." However, you company specializes in bodywork
only. The keyword "automobile body shops" would rank lower
on the popularity scale than "automobile companies," but it
would nevertheless serve you much better. Instead of
getting a slew of people interested in everything from
buying a car to changing their oil filters, you will get
only those consumers with trashed front ends or crumpled
fenders being directed to your site. In other words,
consumers ready to buy your services are the ones who will
immediately find you. Not only that, but the greater the
specificity of your keyword is, the less competition you
will face.

The third factor is consumer motivation. Once again, this
requires putting yourself inside the mind of the customer
rather than the seller to figure out what motivation
prompts a person looking for a service or product to type
in a particular word or phrase. Let's look at another
example, such as a consumer who is searching for a job as
an IT manager in a new city. If you have to choose between
"Seattle job listings" and "Seattle IT recruiters" which do
you think will benefit the consumer more? If you were
looking for this type of specific job, which keyword would
you type in? The second one, of course! Using the second
keyword targets people who have decided on their career,
have the necessary experience, and are ready to enlist you
as their recruiter, rather than someone just out of school
who is casually trying to figure out what to do with his or
her life in between beer parties. You want to find people
who are ready to act or make a purchase, and this requires
subtle tinkering of your keywords until your find the most
specific and directly targeted phrases to bring the most
motivated traffic to you site.

Once you have chosen your keywords, your work is not done.
You must continually evaluate performance across a variety
of search engines, bearing in mind that times and trends
change, as does popular lingo. You cannot rely on your log
traffic analysis alone because it will not tell you how
many of your visitors actually made a purchase.

Luckily, some new tools have been invented to help you
judge the effectiveness of your keywords in individual
search engines. There is now software available that
analyzes consumer behavior in relation to consumer traffic.
This allows you to discern which keywords are bringing you
the most valuable customers.

This is an essential concept: numbers alone do not make a
good keyword; profits per visitor do. You need to find
keywords that direct consumers to your site who actually
buy your product, fill out your forms, or download your
product. This is the most important factor in evaluating
the efficacy of a keyword or phrase, and should be the
sword you wield when discarding and replacing ineffective
or inefficient keywords with keywords that bring in better
profits.

Ongoing analysis of tested keywords is the formula for
search engine success. This may sound like a lot of work -
and it is! But the amount of informed effort you put into
your keyword campaign is what will ultimately generate your
business' rewards.

Tips to Increase Ranking and Website Traffic

It is worth cataloguing the basic principles to be enforced to increase website traffic and search engine rankings.

• Create a site with valuable content, products or services.
• Place primary and secondary keywords within the first 25 words in your page content and spread them evenly throughout the document.
• Research and use the right keywords/phrases to attract your target customers.
• Use your keywords in the right fields and references within your web page. Like Title, META tags, Headers, etc.
• Keep your site design simple so that your customers can navigate easily between web pages, find what they want and buy products and services.
• Submit your web pages i.e. every web page and not just the home page, to the most popular search engines and directory services. Hire someone to do so, if required. Be sure this is a manual submission. Do not engage an automated submission service.
• Keep track of changes in search engine algorithms and processes and accordingly modify your web pages so your search engine ranking remains high. Use online tools and utilities to keep track of how your website is doing.
• Monitor your competitors and the top ranked websites to see what they are doing right in the way of design, navigation, content, keywords, etc.
• Use reports and logs from your web hosting company to see where your traffic is coming from. Analyze your visitor location and their incoming sources whether search engines or links from other sites and the keywords they used to find you.
• Make your customer visit easy and give them plenty of ways to remember you in the form of newsletters, free reports, reduction coupons etc.
• Demonstrate your industry and product or service expertise by writing and submitting articles for your website or for article banks so you are perceived as an expert in your field.
• When selling products online, use simple payment and shipment methods to make your customer’s experience fast and easy.
• When not sure, hire professionals. Though it may seem costly, but it is a lot less expensive than spending your money on a website which no one visits.
• Don’t look at your website as a static brochure. Treat it as a dynamic, ever-changing sales tool and location, just like your real store to which your customers with the same seriousness.

I hope these help you with your search engine ranking and get you the traffic you desire! Have a good week!
